For the past little while I have been going on lots of dates, something I’ve not really had much time for in the past… Anyhow, it is quite interesting to meet and discuss one’s personality and what they might be seeking in a relationship.
One day, while considering how incredibly entertaining my previous night’s date was, I was reading Designfiles and found an excellent photo of two pink flamingos. Not knowing much about flamingos, I referred to the trusty Wiki to provide some insight. After reading the article, I decided that I might be a flamingo in terms of personality traits and relationship style. Here is why…
“ Flamingos often stand on one leg, the other tucked beneath the body. The reason for this behavior is not fully understood. A well-fed, healthy flamingo is more vibrantly coloured and thus a more desirable mate. Flamingos are very social birds that live in colonies that can number in the thousands. A flamingo group stands together and display to each other by rasing neck, followed by calling with head-flagging and then wing flapping. They locate a suitable spot on the mudflat to build a nest, which is usually chosen by the female. Both parents nurse their chick. After two weeks, the chicks join groups called "microcrèches" and their parent soon leave them in these groups.”
Translation – I like to stand and sleep with a crooked arm or leg. No one knows why. I like to eat and wear colourful clothes. I am social. My favourite dance move is the sprinkler which involves wiggling my head and arms quite vigorously in a circle. I would be very vocal in determining where my partner and I choose to live. Looking after the kids is a joint responsibility. And I have no qualms leaving the kids to explore themselves.
So. From now on, all prospective dates will be advised in one swift sentence that I am like a flamingo… excellent legs and incredibly graceful.
